Growth
Key components of a Successful Therapeutic Relationship aligns with Counselor Dispositions. Allowing my self to grow as my client grows only makes sense. From day one in practicum I have been challenge to asked questions and seek help to ensure that my clients are supported in the best way possible. This is just the beginning and I realize the importance of staying current on all the changes be it clinical or social they all are important.

Reflection:
Genuineness
Genuineness and honesty go hand-in-hand. The client must be able to trust the counselor is someone who will be honest with them. This will also trust to grow and bolsters the client counselor relationship. Authenticity is a trait that allows the counselor to be transparent and real and lead to a strong therapeutic alliance.

ACA Code of Ethics and CACREP Common Core Area Standards
A.1.a. Primary Responsibility : the primary responsibility of counselors is to facilitate client welfare. Counselors must work to promote client growth and development in a way that is most beneficial to the individual and respects their autonomy.
A.4.b. Personal Values: Counselors are required to be aware of and avoid imposing their own values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. They must respect client diversity and seek training in areas where the might be at risk of imposing their personal values, especially if those values are discriminatory or inconsistent with client goals.
2.F.2.H: This standard falls under the Social and Cultural Diversity core area. It requires counselor training to include strategies for identifying and eliminating cultural biases, prejudices, and processes of intentional and unintentional oppression and discrimination.
2.F.5.F: This standard falls under the Counseling and Helping Relationships core area. It ensures that student are trained in non-verbal and verbal counselor characteristics and behaviors that influence the helping process, as well as counselor characteristics and behaviors that impede the counseling relationship.
